The International Paderewski Piano Competition (Polish: Międzynarodowy Konkurs Pianistyczny im. Ignacego Jana Paderewskiego) is a music competition held every three years in November in Bydgoszcz, Kuyavian–Pomeranian Voivodeship, Poland. The Competition is for piano students of international (initially national) standing and is open to pianists aged 16–32.[1] The Competition is organized by the Paderewski Musical Society in Bydgoszcz, in cooperation with the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz and the Pomeranian Philharmonic. The first Competition took place in 1961. The aim of the Competition is to honor the pianist, composer, politician, and statesman Ignacy Jan Paderewski, and to promote talented young pianists. It is part of the World Federation of International Music Competitions, and it is also known as the "Chopin Competition for young pianists".
