For e-commerce you determine the residence of the customer based off the postal code used when they enter their billing address. The postal codes are reasonably straghtforward: the letter they start with indicates the province/territory. I can’t say for sure about PayPal, as I got rid of my account years ago, but the e-commerce platforms I’m familiar with have a simple toggle that just does the provincial calculations automatically, based on the postal code a customer enters in the billing address. Square generates easy reports that you can just export to a spreadsheet, and I have to think Shopify would too.

You set that tax amount aside and pass it on to Revenue Canada. Remittance to them probably depends on how much you’re collecting, but most people do it quarterly. (I think annually is an option if you don’t deal with a lot of it.)
If you buy anything with GST on it as a business expense, you can deduct that from the amount you have to remit, but I don’t know how much House Andrews personally runs into that. The form to fill out are just a matter of filling out the lump sums on the right line. I send mine in via E-transfer, but ymmv.

At first I was just amused but now I realize that it wants me to download something, which makes it a hard no. So now I’m asking if “Shop Pay” is a legitimate part of your online store?

Ilona, just to let you know there is no tax (VAT) on ebooks in the UK but that might not help any with your setup.
